On Wednesday, August 25 the Fountain Hills Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition met to hear speakers discuss the dangers of teenage marijuana drug use as well as the numerous gaps seen in the Arizona Medical Marijuana Proposition 203. Substance Abuse Counselor Machael Harmon discussed the reasons teens are so attracted to marijuana and the effects upon their brain development. Doug Hebert of Drug Free America, presented a PowerPoint on the numerous dangers seen in the Arizona Medical Marijuana Proposition 203.

FHUSD welcomed seven new teachers to the faculty on Thursday, July 29th. They spent time with the administrative team receiving a bus ride with the superintendent to see all four school campuses. The new teachers received Technology training followed with lunch by the FH Education Association from Redendos. The seven new teachers include:

• Tania Sanuye - Four Peaks SPED
• Matt Paugliano - FHMS English
• Phil Everhard - FHMS Science
• Alison Mabery - FHMS SPED
• Evan Dixon - FHMS Band (1 yr. replacement)
• Connie Tallman - FHHS Biology

The Gifted Education Program is well underway at all of our district's schools. Gifted education is available for our self-contained 3rd and 4th grades. We are very excited about the opportunities the students of the Fountain Hills School District are given – from enriched kindergarten classes up to High School AP classes that allow students to receive college credit.
