Regular meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the FHUSD Learning Center, 16000 East Palisades Blvd., Fountain Hills. We schedule study sessions and pending business meetings, if needed, on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Please check the schedule below for meeting dates. The board welcomes the public to attend.

2016-2017 Governing Board Goals
  1. Support and promote policies and practices that increase student achievement and inspire all students to reach their maximum potential.
  2. Support all district students, staff, and programs and promote success and excellence.
  3. Build and sustain a collaborative pre-K through 12 learning environment that meets the needs of individual students, their families, and our community.
  4. Implement and maintain responsible stewardship of district funds and other resources, guided by the best interests of our students.

Meet Our Governing Board

The FHUSD governing board takes great pride in the accomplishments of our students and wants to recognize the achievement of significant educational excellence in areas of academics, sports, extracurricular activities, leadership or other criteria that clearly identifies the individual(s) as having achieved an important accomplishment. If you know of a student whom is worthy of this special recognition, please help us by filling out the FHUSD Student Recognition of Excellence Nomination Form and returning it to the governing board secretary.


Governing Board Members

Governing board members of the Fountain Hills Unified School District work hard to maintain high levels of excellence in education. The governing board sets all district policies and has final authority over all school district business. If you would like to e-mail our board members, click on their name below. Meet our district's board members:


Mrs. Jill Reed, President

Jill ReedMrs. Jill Reed and her husband Chad moved to Fountain Hills in 2003. However, she has lived in Arizona for the past 30 years, and she is a graduate of Scottsdale’s Saguaro High School. Mrs. Reed is the owner of Accusource, a data entry company, and has been self-employed since 1996. She is a long time volunteer for the Fountain Hills school district, serving the past six years as vice president and president of the PTO board. Mrs. Reed is the mother of two children: Katie, who is a seventh grader at FHMS, and Hunter, who attends fourth grade at Four Peaks Elementary. Her term runs through December 2016.


Mrs. Edith Stock, Vice President

Edith Stock

Edith Stock and her husband Richard came to Fountain Hills as snowbirds from Wyoming in 2007 and became full-time residents in 2010. Edith is a retired teacher and administrator who enjoyed the profession in California for over twenty years. She continued to work with young people post-retirement in various volunteer positions.

Edith holds a BS in mathematics from California State College, Hayward and a master's in school administration from St. Mary’s in Moraga, California. She was a teacher and administrator in two comprehensive high schools and a summer school for gifted students at University of California-Berkeley and an administrator for an alternative high school and a K-5 elementary school. In addition, she owned and managed a bookstore during a portion of her working years. She was a contract employee doing teacher in-service training for IBM following retirement. She served as CASA volunteer, worked with unwed teenage moms and preschool youngsters, and served as president and treasurer of a food pantry writing grants to insure solvency. Edith and Richard have two grown sons, four grown grandchildren, and four great grandsons. Her board term expires in December 2018.


Dr. C.T. Wright, Board Member

CT WrightDr. Wright is the founder and chairman of The Light of Hope Institute. He moved to Fountain Hills with his wife Mary in 1999. He began his career in education as a teacher in his hometown of Social Circle, Georgia. Dr. Wright also held professorships and administrative positions at several colleges and universities, including assistant provost at Eastern Washington University and president of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. This educator and historian is a member of numerous professional, community, and civic boards including serving as president emeritus of the International Foundation for Education and Self Help. He earned a PhD from Boston University, an MA from Clark Atlanta University, a BS from Fort Valley State University, and a Doctor of Humane Letters from Mary Holmes College. Dr. Wright’s term on the governing board runs through December 2016.


Mrs. Judy Rutkowski, Board Member

Judy Rutkowski

Mrs. Judy Rutkowski moved to Fountain Hills in 2001 with her husband and two children. Both children have attended Fountain Hills Unified School District. Maggie graduated from Fountain Hills High School in 2013, and Adam is in the class of 2015. Judy is a registered nurse and spent many years in the area of pediatrics and family medicine nursing. She currently works as a substitute nurse for Scottsdale Unified School District.

Judy has volunteered for Fountain Hills schools in various capacities, including classroom volunteer, member of the PTO, chaperone for field trips, school dances, Falcon Fiesta, and host parent for a foreign exchange student from Germany. She has also helped perform hearing and vision screenings. She is a band booster parent and has enthusiastically supported the fighting flock of falcon fury. Her board term expires in December 2018.


Dr. Wendy Miedel Barnard, Board Member

Wendy BarnardDr. Wendy Miedel Barnard currently works at Arizona State University as a researcher in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Her current project involves educational programs such as teacher preparation, teacher efficacy in educational reforms, teacher working conditions and retention, and early childhood educational coaching. Wendy previously worked at the University of Pittsburgh as an evaluator and at Buena Vista University in Iowa as an adjunct professor. Wendy has lived in Fountain Hills since 2010. She is married and has three children that attend FHUSD. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her board term expires in December 2018.
